WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
What’s next: The No. 3 NIACC women’s basketball team (10-0 overall, 1-0 in the ICCAC) hosts No. 2 Kirkwood Community College at 1 p.m. Saturday in the NIACC gym.
Last time out: NIACC topped the Grand View junior varsity 117-61 on Dec. 5. Sophomore Chelsey Jacox (Plymouth, Minn.) led the Lady Trojans with 27 points.
Also, sophomore Kadejah Young (Minneapolis) scored 15 points and freshman Sierra Ford-Washington (Richfield, Minn.) scored a career-high 14 points.
Leading the nation: NIACC averages 105.6 points per game, which leads all NJCAA Division II teams. The Lady Trojans also lead the nation with 123 3-point goals and lead the nation in assists per game (23.3).
Among the best: The Lady Trojans are tied for second among NJCAA Division II teams with 180 steals and rank fifth in free-throw percentage (71.1 percent).
Leading the way: Scoring – Chelsey Jacox 22.5 ppg. (2nd in ICCAC), Rush 18.4 ppg. (3rd in ICCAC); Lateeka Thompson 14.2 ppg. (10th in ICCAC); Kadejah Young 13.8 ppg. (11th in ICCAC). Rebounds – Rush 8.0 rpg. (4th in ICCAC); Ashleigh Onaca 5.9 rpg. (16th in ICCAC); Thompson 5.5 rpg. (17th in ICCAC); Morgan Walker 5.2 rpg. (tied for 19th in ICCAC). Assists – Jacox 55 (2nd in ICCAC), Rush 37 (8th in ICCAC), Thompson 34 (9th in ICCAC). Steals – Rush 34 (1st in ICCAC), Thompson 28 (3rd in ICCAC), Jacox 25 (4th in ICCAC). 3-point goals – Rush 28 (1st in ICCAC), Kadejah Young 25 (2nd in ICCAC), Emily Bell 21 (4th in ICCAC).

MEN’S BASKETBALL
What’s next: The No. 16 NIACC men’s basketball team (11-4 overall, 0-1 in ICCAC) hosts Kirkwood Community College at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
Last time out: NIACC dropped a 85-77 decision to Marshalltown on Dec. 4 and split a pair of games at the NDSCS Classic on Dec. 7-8. The Trojans topped United Tribes Technical College 109-74 and lost to NDSCS 89-73.
Climbing the charts: Sophomore David Humphries (Adelaide, Australia) ranks 16th on NIACC’s all-time scoring list with 880 career points. Verlan Larmore (1979-81) ranks 15th with 887 points.
Leading the way: Scoring – Humphries 23.3 ppg. (2nd in ICCAC); Sam Skogen 12.0 ppg (13th in ICCAC).; Matthew Don 11.9 ppg. (17th in ICCAC). Rebounds – Humphries 8.9 rpg. (1st in ICCAC), Don 8.8 rpg. WRESTLING
What’s next: The No. 3 NIACC wrestling team returns to action Jan. 4 at the William Penn Invitational in Oskaloosa.
Last time out: NIACC’s Yoanse Mejias (Miami, Fla.) placed third at 157 pounds at the Simpson College Invitational and the Trojans placed seventh in the team standings with 27.5 points. Mejias (19-1) suffered his first loss of the season to Wartburg College’s Drew Wagenhoffer 6-5 in the semifinals.
For the record: Mejias (157) 19-1; Nosomy Pozo (149) 11-0; Tristan Luther (165) 11-5; Shakheim Chapman (197) 9-2; Andy Glaser (184) 9-5; Sha-Keno Jenkins (157) 7-5.
