CORNING – Peter Wiley, age 32 of Creston, was charged Wednesday morning with Attempted Murder and Going Armed with Intent in Adams County from an incident that occurred Tuesday evening in Corning.

Authorities were called to the Casey’s in Corning as a woman had reported being shot at. Upon the deputy’s arrival, contact was made with the alleged victim of the shooting. The victim reported that Peter Wiley had shot at the vehicle she was driving and then took off in an unknown direction of travel.

The information regarding Wiley was broadcasted and on Wednesday morning a Creston police officer spotted Wiley’s vehicle and attempted to stop it. A short pursuit ensued that ended with Wiley sliding his car into a ditch. As officers were approaching the vehicle and assisting Wiley from the car, it caught fire and burned rapidly. As a result, Wiley will also be facing additional charges in Union County which include; Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Eluding, and Hit and Run. He was transported to Adams County jail where he remains awaiting his initial appearance.

In addition to the Adams and Union County incidents, Peter Wiley is also suspected in a shooting incident earlier in the same evening in rural Page County. His brother, Raymond Wiley age 40, was dropped off at the Shenandoah Medical Center with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to an Omaha area hospital where he remains today.
