Hawkeye volleyball coach’s contract will not be renewed

IOWA CITY – University of Iowa Director of Athletics Gary Barta announced Thursday that the contract for head volleyball coach Sharon Dingman will not be renewed.

Dingman has been the head coach of the Hawkeyes for the past six seasons. Her teams had an overall record of 66-125 that included an 18-102 record in matches against Big Ten Conference opponents.

“I have enjoyed being the volleyball coach at the University of Iowa and appreciate the opportunity to represent this world class university,” Dingman said.

“I would like to thank the administration for their support and commitment to the volleyball program. I have been blessed to have the most hard-working, dedicated, and positive staff one could ask for. Above all else, I extend my deepest gratitude to the players for their commitment to excellence in the classroom and on the court.”

A national search for the new head volleyball coach at the UI will begin immediately.
