Carolina punishes Vikings, 35-10

vikings_logo_2MINNEAPOLIS – The Vikings needed a win to keep pace in the NFC North and to get by until newly-annointed stating quarterback Josh Freeman can take the reigns of the offense.

No win was available Sunday as the Carolina Panthers came to Mall of America field and blew out the Vikings, 35-10.

Struggling Cam Newton was good for four touchdowns, breaking free and throwing for three and running for another.

Adrian Peterson finished with 62 yards on 10 carries as he dealt with the loss of a son who was beaten to death over the weekend allegedly by a boyfriend of the boy’s mother.

Viking’s quarterback Matt Cassel couldn’t ignite the offense either, throwing two interceptions. Freeman watched from the sidelines along with benched started Christian Ponder.

Jared Allen said after the game his “disappointment level” was, on a “scale of 1-10 about a 30. One of the worst loses I have ever been a part of at home. I honestly dont get it.”
