NIACC soccer team falls to Iowa Central

MASON CITY – The NIACC men’s soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to Iowa Central on Saturday afternoon at the NIACC soccer field.

Iowa Central led 3-0 at the half.

NIACC (3-8 overall, 2-6 in the ICCAC) played the majority of the contest one man down as sophomore Leo Driscoll received a red card early in the first half.

“I’m very, very proud of the second-half performance from the boys,” NIACC soccer coach Jonathan Platt said. “We easily could of folded at halftime.

“We played 10 against 11 against a very good side and we really showed in the second half what we’re about. We had some good commitment and played some good futbol. I’m very proud of how we reacted in the second half.”

Iowa Central (10-4, 6-2) received its first two goals from freshman Michael Mayberry. The third Triton goal was scored by freshman Matheus Macedo.

NIACC returns to action Tuesday at Marshalltown. The Tigers topped NIACC 2-1 in Mason City on Sept. 21.
