Reports have surfaced Friday of the death of a young boy who is the son of Vikings star running back Adrian Peterson.
CNN reported that a Peterson’s 2-year-old son died Friday of injuries he suffered after allegedly being abused.
A 27 year-old man who was reportedly the boyfriend of the boy’s mother has been arrested and charged with aggravated battery of an infant and aggravated assault. Joseph Robert Patterson, 27, could face up to 40 years in prison and an $80,000 fine, CNN said.
The mother was not involved in the assault, police told CNN.
Peterson tweeted Friday “Thank you to my family, my fans and fans of other teams for their support.”
