NIACC women place sixth at Grand View

MASON CITY – The No. 23 NIACC women’s cross country team placed sixth at the Grand View Viking Invitational on Friday with 173 points.

Drake won the team title with 15 points and Mount Mercy was second with 68 points.
NIACC was led by freshman Hannah Palmeter (Bessemer, Mich.) , who placed eighth in the 5-kilometer race in personal best 20 minutes, 11 seconds. Drake sophomore Emma Huston won the race with time of 19:06.

Also for NIACC, sophomore Lindsay Brunson (Muscatine, Ia.) was 44th in 21:52, sophomore Emily Scharn (Sac City, Ia.) was 53rd in 22:54, freshman Nicolle Hewett (Mason City, Ia.) was 61st in 23:34 and sophomore Stephanie Faught (Clear Lake, Ia.) was 75th in 25:42.

NIACC returns to action next Saturday the University of Minnesota Roy Griak Invitational.
