MASON CITY – The North Iowa Diversity Appreciation Team (NIDAT) partnering with Main Street- Mason City is sponsoring the 10th annual ethnic Lunch by Central Park event with live music, food, cultural exhibits and informational tables and Diversity Awards on Friday, September 20, 2013, from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm.

The event will take place on the streetscape on Federal Avenue between State Street and First Street North.  This street will be closed for traffic during the event.  Ethnic food vendors will be set up along Federal Ave, including Mexican, Greek, Cuban, German, Filipino, Japanese and Italian.  Cultural exhibits will include Native American, Mexican, Sri Lanka, South Korea, India, Iran, Hungary, Ghana and Vietnamese.  Information regarding the Blue Zone initiative, Iowa Legal Aid, and the new Speakers’ Bureau will also be available. This event will highlight the diverse ethnicity in the area to promote understanding of different cultures.

At noon, NIDAT will present “Embracing Diversity Awards” to recognize an outstanding corporation, service organization, and individual in the community for their commitment in understanding and appreciating diversity in the North Iowa area.
