NIACC men’s golf team places fourth at RCTC Invite

niacc_trojans_logoLAKE CITY, Minn. – The NIACC men’s golf team placed fourth at the RCTC Fall Invitational on Thursday at The Jewel Golf Course with a 330.

Southwest Tech (Wisconsin) won the event with a 315 and Minnesota State-Fergus Falls was second with a 320.

“We flat out played poorly (Thursday),” NIACC coach Chris Frenz said. “None of the guys could get anything going and it was a frustrating day all the way around.

“Yes, it was windy, but hopefully we will learn that we have to come ready to compete on every swing.”

Sophomore Levi Fink (Wadena, Ia.) led NIACC with a 39-38 – 77. Sophomore Joe Myers (Rockwell, Ia.) was next in line with a 40-43 – 83.

“Levi is having a strong fall season so far,” Frenz said. “He should with the work he’s put in during the off-season.”

NIACC returns to action Sunday and Monday at the Clarke University Fall Invitational at the Thunder Hills Golf Course in Peosta.

Team standings – Southwest Tech 315, Minnesota State-Fergus Falls 320, RCTC 328, NIACC 330, Central Lakes 437.

NIACC – Levi Fink 39-38 – 77; Joe Myers 40-43 – 83; Derrick Urdahl 44-40 – 84; Kevin Troubaugh 42-44 – 86; Hunter Miller 46-40 – 86.
