(Des Moines) State Senator Amanda Ragan of Mason City will help oversee the redesign of Iowa’s mental health and disability services system. Ragan will serve on a committee of legislators that will present recommendations to the 2014 session of the Iowa Legislature.
“Significant changes are underway in Iowa when it comes to how we provide and pay for mental health and disability services,” said Ragan, the chair of the Senate Human Resources Committee. “Everyone wants to create a stronger, more effective system that ensures that Iowa families have access to vital services. To be successful, the Legislature must pay close attention to this process and make corrections when needed.”
Ragan will be one of the five state senators and five state representatives on the “Mental Health and Disability Services Redesign Fiscal Viability Study Committee.” The committee will meet this fall and hear from health care advocates and state officials.
