WATERLOO – On Thursday, August 29, 2013 at approximately 5:22 AM, Waterloo Police and Waterloo Fire Rescue were dispatched to Highway 20 and Highway 218 on report that a motorcycle had struck a deer.
Officers found that the accident occurred on the northbound exit from Highway 20 onto Highway 218. The motorcycle driver was taken to Covenant Medical Center where he later died from his injuries. The driver was identified as Robert Clarence Carlson, age 59, of LaPorte City, IA.
