MASON CITY – A convicted sex offender allegedly violated his probation related to that crime twice this year and is in jail waiting to head back to Beje Clark Residential Correctional Facility.
Anthony James Alitz, 23, was charged in 2010 with 3rd degree sexual abuse of a female 15 years of age, a class C felony, and convicted the following year. He was given a deferred judgement and 3 years probation and placed on the Iowa sex offender registry for 10 years. A no contact order was terminated as well, records show. Alitz was ordered to pay $2,505.90 in court costs and fines. He still owes $1,143.23 to Iowa courts.
Alitz proceeded to violate the terms of his probation three times; he was convicted in 2012 and 2013. He must now be listed on the Iowa sex offender registry for life. Alitz allegedly violated his probation again on August 28th, 2013. An arrest warrant was issued that day by Judge Rustin Davenport and Mason City police picked up Alitz on August 29th.
Alitz now faces a probation revocation hearing on September 23rd and could go to prison. Until then, he has been ordered to return to the BeJe Clark Residential Facility.
