IOWA CITY – Iowa football coach Kirk Ferentz said Tuesday that “every game really is critical” s his team prepares for its season-opener Saturday against the Northern Illinois Huskies, a team that won 12 straight games last year and lost the Orange Bowl to Florida State.
Iowa squeaked by the Huskies last year in Chicago, 18-17. It was their only regular season loss.
“Football is different than basketball or baseball where you’re playing a lot of games,” Ferentz said. “Football you only get 12 shots, so every game really is critical, from that standpoint you have to value the importance of every game.”
