NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – Aug. 23, 2013 – All lanes of Interstate 380/U.S. 20 in Evansdale will be open by the morning of Sunday, Aug. 25 as the reconstruction of the northbound lanes is completed, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office.
The process to open all four lanes will begin Friday evening. During this process there will be areas with 2 lanes of traffic in each direction. However, motorists should expect some areas where there will be lane closures until the process is completed early Sunday morning. The lane closures may cause traffic congestion and delays so motorists are advised to take alternate routes if possible. Although all lanes of traffic will be open after Sunday morning, in the next few weeks there may still be workers and equipment working near the roadway.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
