Two athletes leave Hawkeye football program

logo_iowa_hawkeyesIOWA CITY, IOWA – – University of Iowa football coach Kirk Ferentz announced Monday that two scholarship student-athletes, senior offensive lineman Drew Clark and redshirt freshman wide receiver Cameron Wilson, have chosen to leave the Hawkeye football program.

Clark, a native of Marion, has elected to forego his fifth season of eligibility to focus on completing his degree in engineering. Clark will earn his degree in May, 2014. Clark redshirted in 2009 and has seen limited action throughout his career.

Wilson is a native of Dublin, Ohio, who redshirted last season. In early July, Wilson notified Ferentz that he would transfer to another institution for the 2013 fall semester. Wilson has completed his summer schedule of courses at Iowa.

The Hawkeyes began practice for the 2013 season Monday. The UI will hold its annual Media Day on Thursday, Aug. 8. Kid’s Day is set for Saturday, Aug. 17 in Kinnick Stadium, beginning at 5 p.m.

The Hawkeyes open the season Saturday, Aug. 31, hosting Northern Illinois (2:30 p.m., BTN).
