MASON CITY – An Estherville man and convicted felon was stopped south of Mason City for drunk driving.
At 5:19 AM Saturday morning, the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office and Mason City Police Department responded to a traffic complaint on the Avenue of the Saints near the 180 mile marker.
Anthony Robert Jeffries, age 24 was stopped and arrested for operating while intoxicated, speeding and no insurance. He was taken to the Cerro Gordo County Jail and was held on a $1,000.00 cash/surety bond and was released later Saturday.
Jeffries is a convicted felon who plead guilty to third degree burglary in 2010. Jeffries was given five years probation and Judge James Douglas Scott ordered Jeffries to obtain his GED. Jeffies later violated his probation and still owes nearly $5,000.00 in court costs, fines and restitution.
Jeffries also owes $943.75 in court costs and fines for offending multiple times as a barred driver.
Also this year, Jeffries was found guilty of domestic abuse assault but given a deferred judgement with more probation.
