DES MOINES – The Iowa Republican Party (GOP) claims a picnic held Friday turned violent but still found humor in the situation.
According to information released by the Iowa GOP, at a Iowa GOP picnic held July 19th in Des Moines which Texas Senator Ted Cruz was attending, “about 20 protestors showed up. They refused to step back onto public property and unfortunately soon became violent and assaulted GOP staff and guests.”
Despite what they describe as a situation that could have involved injuries to human beings, the Iowa GOP poked fun at the incident.
“We feel the best response is humor. So here’s a picture of the Immigration protestors misspelling the word ‘Immigration.’ Ummm, that’s kind of the most important word on the sign guys…” The Iowa GOP posted to its Facebook page.
The Iowa GOP then penned this fictional dialogue between two supposed protestors:
Man: – “Hey are you going to the Immigration Protest today?”
Woman: – “Absolutely!”
Man: – “Great. Got everything you need? Hat, signs, flyers?”
Woman: – : You bet. This is going to be a great day.
Man: – “I know! In fact that the only thing that could ruin our Immigration protest, make us look foolish and cause us to lose credibility would be if a few members of our group became violent and the police needed to be called.
Woman: – “Or if something crazy went down like someone spelled immigration wrong, haha. But that could never happen, lets go!
On the photo the Iowa GOP posted, showing an elderly protestor with a poster that showed the word “immigration” mis-spelled, the Iowa GOP itself made three grammatical errors in the first sentence it wrote:
“How to you spell Immigration Again?”
Maybe neither party is very righteous.
