Chicago woman arrested nearly 400 times

CHICAGO, June 11 (UPI) — A 51-year-old Chicago woman arrested nearly 400 times has been sentenced to complete a mental health and substance abuse program.

Cook County Judge Peggy Chiampas accepted Shermain Miles’ plea deal Monday, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

“All of us are reaching out to you and offering you, maybe for the first time in your life, a hand, OK?” Chiampas told the woman. “But you’ve got to reach out and grab all of our hands as well.”

Miles expressed her appreciation to the judge.

“I just want to thank you,” said Miles.

Known to shriek in courthouse lockups, Miles offered, “I’m not that person.”

Miles’ criminal history of 396 arrests includes serving three years for armed robbery and arrests for allegedly attacking city Alderman James Cappleman, trespassing and public consumption of alcohol, the newspaper said.

What happened to “Three strikes – you’re out”?

Only in Chicago…

Did you know Obama was from Chicago?

They have such great programs and ways to deal with crime there. That’s why he wants it for the whole nation.
