MOSEL, Wis., May 30 (UPI) — More than 300 baby mink were stolen from a Mosel, Wis., mink ranch, said police, who have requested the public’s help in solving the crime.
The theft at Dittrick Mink Ranch was reported May 13, and evidence suggests the animals were not taken in a single theft, Capt. Dave Adams of the Sheboygan County, Wis., Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.
Sheboygan County has a large number of mink farms, an animal raised for its fur, a practice some activists protest by taking the mink and freeing them in the wild, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported Thursday.
“Activists have, in the past, released mink, but this does not appear to be a release. They were taken away,” Adams said.
