Man rides Navy Pier Ferris wheel for 48 hours non-stop

CHICAGO, May 20 (UPI) — The operations manager at Chicago’s Navy Pier set a world record by riding the Ferris wheel non-stop for 48 hours.

Clinton Shepherd boarded the Ferris wheel at 2:30 p.m. Friday and rode for a full 48 hours, beating the previous Guinness record for an amusement park ride, 30 hours and 35 seconds, WMAQ-TV, Chicago, reported Monday.

“This achievement highlights Navy Pier as the No. 1 tourist attraction in the Midwest and serves as a great attraction as the city of Chicago honors the men and women of the Armed Forces,” Mayor Rahm Emanuel said Saturday, Armed Forces Day, when active members of the military and their families were given free rides on all Navy Pier attractions.
