Graham plans one more evangelistic crusade as he nears 95

CHARLOTTE, N.C., May 20 (UPI) — Christian preacher Billy Graham says he plans one more national evangelistic campaign as he nears his 95th birthday in November.

Graham, who’s hindered by failing eyesight and hearing, has been filmed for the past six months fielding questions in his home from the Rev. Don Wilton of First Baptist Church in Spartanburg, The Charlotte Observer reported Monday.

The evangelist’s responses will be meshed with footage of sermons he made during a series of services in Sacramento in 1985. Boiled down to 30 minutes, the presentation will be made available on DVD and the Internet by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association as part of a nationwide evangelistic effort called “My Hope America with Billy Graham.”

“It won’t be a sermon, and it may not be his last [public] words, but it’ll be an all new message from Mr. Graham about today,” said Ken Barun, chief of staff for the association.

The association also plans to buy time to broadcast the video on commercial stations, offer it to Christian TV networks and get volunteers to show it at gatherings in their homes.

Barun said BGEA hopes to get the video into 300,000 households.

Graham is also writing a new book, “The Reason for My Hope,” that is scheduled to be released on Oct. 15, the same day as the video.
