LeBron James leads NBA All-Defensive Team

NEW YORK, May 13 (UPI) — Miami forward LeBron James has been voted onto the NBA All-Defensive Team for a fifth-consecutive season, the NBA announced Monday.

James and Memphis guard Tony Allen each were given 25 first-place votes from the 30 NBA head coaches in wining first-team mentions.

Also on the first team were Los Angeles Clippers guard Chris Paul and Oklahoma City forward Serge Ibaka with New York’s Tyson Chandler and Chicago’s Joakim Noah tied for first at center.

In addition to the fifth honor for James, Paul had been a first-teamer four times. Allen and Ibaka have each been on the first team twice. This year marked the first first-team honors for Chandler and Noah.

However, the NBA Defensive Player of the Year wasn’t put on the first team. That award went to Memphis center Marc Gasol. The same situation happened last year when Chandler was took the individual honor but was on the All-Defensive Second Team.

Gasol was voted the second team along with San Antonio’s Tim Duncan, Indiana’s Paul George, Boston’s Avery Bradley and Mike Conley of Memphis.
