CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa, May 11 (UPI) — U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., attacked former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in an Iowa speech that appeared to be the kickoff of the 2016 presidential race.
Paul was one of the speakers Friday at the Iowa Republican Party’s Lincoln Day Dinner in Cedar Rapids, NBC News reported. He described Clinton’s handling of the deadly February attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, as “dereliction of duty” and said it “should preclude her from holding higher office.”
Clinton is believed to be contemplating a run for president in 2016. Paul, who was elected to the Senate in 2010, is the son of Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, a libertarian who has run twice for the Republican nomination.
Paul’s attack on Clinton was his biggest applause line from a generally friendly crowd.
The senator also spoke Saturday morning at a Republican breakfast in North Liberty, the Des Moines Register reported.
Paul has said he will not decide until next year whether to enter the 2016 race.

I really doubt that Paul would be the Republican nominee in the next election. Like Bachman, he is way to far to the right to get the conservative vote. They will use him to stir up some people but never as president. The same reason his father couldn’t make it.

I myself would vote for Gov Christie of NJ without reservation.As far as the democrats go,IF Clinton runs its her’s,but,if she doesnt run,who knows who will get the nomination,I don’t think VP Biden will run for it.You may very well have an hispanic or another woman get the nomination.It is too far out to know and who knows what will happen in the next 3 years.All,I know for sure if Paul gets the nomination,the Republicans are doomed to loss of such magnitude It will shake the party to the core.Hate speech from Paul will only drive the moderates to the left because of the disgust of him,just like his dad who could not get more then 10-15% of the partys vote.
It looks like Rand Paul vs Hillery Clinton next election. Same old, same old.
We need an independent president next time.
