Supervisors receive insurance dividend check of $77,015

MASON CITY – The Cerro Gordo County Board of Supervisors met for its regular meeting Tuesday morning at the courthouse.

The board received a road report from County Engineer Mary Kelly. She said that now that snow plowing is complete as of last week, road crews are now blading gravel roads.

The board considered quotes for a chimney repair at the Engineer’s Office. The chimney was in serious need of repair.  The new chimney will be shorter by 9 feet than the current chimney’s height 14 feet above the roof top.  $20,000 was in the budget to cover the project.  Only one bid was submitted after bids were sought from four companies.  The bid $20,874.55 from Randall Construction from Osage, Iowa. The approved the deal.

The board considered a resolution adopting a substance abuse prevention program for drugs and alcohol for employees required to have a commercial driver’s license. There was no objections to the plan. Along the same lines, an individual wellness incentive program for employees was approved. It was said the plan may help lower insurance rates.

The board awarded a the lease 20 acres of county pasture located in the E½ of Section 11 in Lake Township for $2,100 per year.

The board acknowledged the receipt of a dividend check from United Heartland Insurance for 32.5% of worker’s compensation premiums paid by the county or $77,015.
