Musharraf approved to run in elections

KARACHI, Pakistan, April 7 (UPI) — The Chitral National Assembly has approved Pakistan’s former military dictator, Pervez Musharraf, to run in the general elections, officials said.

Three other constituencies — Karachi, Islamabad and Kasur — rejected his application papers, Geo News reported.

The complaints said the former president ousted a democratically elected government in 1999 and also unseated Supreme Court judges.

Former Karachi Mayor Naimaitullah Khan has voiced his objections to Musharraf’s candidature over his alleged involvement in the killing of two governmental officials, Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti and Benazir Bhutto.
