28 youths arrested in Chicago disturbances

CHICAGO, March 31 (UPI) — Police in Chicago arrested 28 young people during two incidents on the Magnificent Mile and an elevated train car, officials said.

The first incident occurred near Chicago and Michigan avenues at about 6 p.m. Saturday, the Chicago Sun-Times reported. Officers came across “a number of kids fighting amongst themselves,” police spokeswoman Amina Greer said.

The Chicago Tribune reported at least 50 teenagers were running through the streets, blocking sidewalk and street traffic, and bumping into passersby. Officers arrested two adults and 15 teenagers and charged them with one count each of reckless conduct, officials said.

In a separate incident, police arrested 11 teenagers at a Chicago Transit Authority elevated train station in The Loop about 6:30 p.m. Saturday, the Sun-Times said.

The teens allegedly accosted a group of women aboard a train car, police said. They then got off the train with a purse belonging to one of the victims.

Police stopped them before they left the station and made the arrests.

The 11 teens were all charged with battery. Two of the suspects were also charged with strong-arm robbery, police said.

Combine this type of behavior with the flash mobs where they rob stores and you have a real problem with these young thugs. Illinois jails are completely filled so they have no where to put them. It is a sad situation that gets worse and worse but is a sign of our times. Illinois is the most liberal state in the midwest and it shows.

Please tell us what it was like to live during crime free times.

There were always some crimes but they were few and far inbetween. The days when you could leave your house and car unlocked are long gone. Respect of your elders has also disappeared as is apparent. If we had done something like this when we were young we would have to face our parents when we got home and that was back in the day when parents were still parents and you would be punished and not with a stupid time out.

So things got so bad on YOUR watch?

No, it was when you came of age. The age of liberals and not spanking their kids.

typical LVS, all the complaining with none of the responsibility. “how did this world get this way?” Newsflash, you let it get this way.

Boo Hoo Hoo, typical liberals B.S. they cause all of the problems but accept no responsibility. Poor baby.

Problem happened on your watch old man. Sounds like YOU and your kind should be held responsible.

Right, and this from someone who can not even remember which name they posted under last. You are responsible for your own actions and no one else is.

The hippie movement, militant rights groups of the 60’s and 70’s, demoralizing TV series and talk shows like Sally Jesse Raphael, Geraldo, & Jerry Springer, and the media are the most responsible for what has happened to our country. They normalized bad behavior and exposed people to new bad behaviors by putting them in our living rooms. The younger generation that had never known what good behavior was by examples in their homes and families, started acting like the role models they saw on TV. And I don’t need research to tell me this is so. I see it every day in younger people with warped standards, ethics, behavior, and morals.

Wait, now the MEDIA is to blame?

The media shapes our society these days. Parents park their kids in front of TV’s to watch cartoons, then whatever else is on TV. I remember being appalled at the crap I saw on Sally, Geraldo, and Springer in the 80’s and thinking that they would be the downfall of our society because kids would see that stuff and think it was acceptable or normal. Well, we now have people acting like those drama queens and kings. Soap operas were about as bad with all the conniving and cheating. Yes, it goes on in real life, but we don’t need those kinds of role models in our living rooms! Too many times they would “justify” their actions somehow to make it seem OK. But usually it was glamorous or exciting and was just for lust. It was hardly ever because someone was beating the kids or the spouse. At least shows like the ones on ID show the consequences of bad behavior and the bad guy or gal always gets punished.

I had a couple Chicago jokes in my email this weekend that told this same type of story. Sad commentary.

Just another day in the windy city. They should start putting some of the older ones in the military.
