PUYALLUP, Wash., March 25 (UPI) — A Puyallup, Wash., man is in custody after shooting his adult children in their heads as they slept, killing his daughter and injuring his son, police allege.
With his grandchildren asleep in his home early Sunday, the unidentified man, 69, shot the 43-year-old woman and the 46-year-old man, then called police, who disarmed him of a small-caliber handgun believed to have been used in the shooting, Puyallup Deputy Police Chief Dave McDonald said.
Both victims were taken to Tacoma (Wash.) General Hospital, where the woman died, the (Tacoma) News Tribune reported Monday.
The suspect’s wife, and two grandsons, ages 6 and 7, were taken safely from the home, the newspaper added.
Police had responded several times to the home for domestic violence-related disputes between family members, McDonald said.
