MASON CITY – A Mason City man was arrested Wednesday on drug charges.
Zachary James Kantaris, 20, was arrested at 2:25 PM by a Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Deputy at 20th Street SE and Massachusetts Avenue and charged with driving while revoked; possession of drug paraphernalia; and three counts of possession of a controlled substance (marijuana, methamphetamine and morphine).
Kantaris is being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on $2,000 cash-only bond and has a March 29th court date set on all the charges except the possession of drug paraphernalia. Kantaris plead not guilty to that charge and September 23rd court date was set. 2412
Kantaris faces a hearing an April 1st court date for three counts of possession of a controlled substance.
In addition, Kantaris is still awaiting adjudication in a case where he allegedly delivered cocaine and marijuana during an undercover police investigation on April 10th of 2012. He will be in court in April for hearing in that case.
On January 4th, 2013, Kantaris plead guilty to operating while intoxicated in Benton County.
Kantaris has already plead guilty to possession of marijuana in 2011 after a citation from the Iowa State Patrol. He received probation and paid $2,945.50 in court costs and fines.
