MASON CITY – Clear Lake’s Carly Ouverson has signed a national letter of intent to play volleyball at NIACC.

Ouverson, a setter, was a first-team all-North Central Conference selection during her senior season. She collected 550 assists with 125 digs and 38 ace serves.

“I’ve had the pleasure to watch Carly play the past couple of years with her high school team and club team,” NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. “I was extremely impressed with her setting maturity.

“She is the type of setter who can provide leadership on the court and make great decisions regarding placement and tempo of the offense.”

Ouverson said she’s looking forward to playing at NIACC in the fall.

“I love the team and the coaches,” Ouverson said, “and everything I’ve heard about the NIACC volleyball program, which makes me even more eager to play there.”

Clear Lake coach Scott Swenson called Ouverson “an outstanding setter.”

“She is very capable of taking it to the next level with her leadership and setting ability,” Swenson said. “She has been a great example of hard work paying off. I’m excited to see her volleyball skills take off at NIACC.”

Ouverson is the seventh member of Brandt’s recruiting class for the 2013 fall season.

The Lady Trojans have also signed Riley Quintas (Eagle Grove, Ia.), Brianna Haugen (Clear Lake, Ia.), Hallie Erdahl (Lake Mills, Ia.), Grace Olmstead (Waterloo Columbus, Waterloo, Ia.), Madison Craighton (Hampton-Dumont, Hampton, Ia.) and Sydney Ischette (Wolsey, S.D.).
