COSTA MESA, Calif., March 13 (UPI) — Seven California elementary school children were taken to a hospital after eating marijuana-laced brownies a 10-year-old classmate gave them, police said.
Police said a student went to the school office in Pomona Elementary School in Costa Mesa complaining of dizziness, nausea and difficulty breathing, and several other children subsequently went to the office with the same complaints, the Orange County Register reported Wednesday.
Police said they discovered all the children had eaten a brownie the 10-year-old boy had given them on a campus field.
After one student asked the boy why the brownie tasted differently, the boy said, “Oh, it’s a brownie that has marijuana in it,” Costa Mesa Fire Department Deputy Chief Fred Seguin said.
Six boys and one girl, ranging in age from 10 to 12 years, were taken to a hospital for evaluation, officials said.
The newspaper did not report on whether any disciplinary action was being taken against the boy who brought the brownies to school.

BS! Psychosis in “older people” from cannabis? I haven’t found any documentation that it was directly related to cannabis and not Dementia common in older people or early Alzheimer’s. Show documentation on people who did NOT also use alcohol over a long period of their lives and used only cannabis.

Cannabis is not toxic. Those kids probably got sick from eating too many period. They got sick. They didn’t die. Huge difference. They could have however died if they had consumed too much alcohol. Yet we don’t see any fear mongering of that “most toxic drug”. Oxycontin is a legal drug. It’s toxic. Aspirin is a legal drug. It’s toxic. Cannabis is NOT toxic. Do you all comprehend what “toxic” means?

What happened is the kids got a body buzz. They got “high”. When this happens to a kid he’s classified as being sick, the same as he would if he drank a beer.
Show me the bodies. You can’t because there aren’t any deaths due to cannabis. Caffeine will cause heart attacks in some people this year and some will die. There will be documented deaths due to aspirin this year and none due to cannabis.
It’s all a lie. A lie now based on who benefits financially from its prohibition. Stop lying to your children, it just makes you look stupid in the future.
I realize children should be taken to hospital. I wasn’t disputing that. I was saying there no need to freak out. They wouldn’t have died from ingesting the cannabis. The sugar could do more harm as it would increase their blood sugar levels and a sudden drop could effect them.
I also know how the dog issue came about. My point was the effects on dogs is irrelevant to the effects on people. This is about humans not dogs.
To my knowledge there have been NO reports, documentation and proof that cannabis is directly related to a death in humans. I don’t find any overdose cases. And neither does the CDC.

I would be in more fear if my 9 yr. old was sharing a fifth of whiskey with his classmate who brought it.
I personally know a teenager that came very close to death from alcohol overdose.
With all I’ve read, seen and experienced my conclusion is cannabis is safer and does far less damage to the body and mind than alcohol. You can think what you want. I just don’t believe in making kids think / believe alcohol is safer than cannabis. And just because alcohol is legal that doesn’t make it safe to consume.

People need to fear the dope dealing doctors and their pharmaceutical suppliers first and foremost. Most think that just because doctors have an alphabet of acronyms following their names anything they perscribe will not harm you. Why do you think malpractice insurance is so high? Cause it is too easy to prove that many doctors and pharm companies don’t have a clue what short or long term use of certain drugs or combinations there of can do to individuals. Show me the statistics of those who OD’d as a result of THC in their system or died due to compications of THC. Ask the questions folks. Good points. Only place I might disagree a bit is that not all Drs. are quacks. There are some intelligent ones out there. I’m very involved in any care from any doc. Many people don’t know that they have a right to all of their medical records and a choice in treatments. Be it Dr. office visit or hospital stay. Mayo actually gives you a copy in your discharge papers.
It’s the insurance cos. that are in bed with the pharmacutical companies. That’s why you see the diff in price of generics and brand names. Cost should be close to same.

Perhaps you should because these substances do kill people every year while cannabis does not. There is nothing to fear but FEAR itself my children.
Dogs are meat eaters and instinctively do not eat flowers. Dogs will avoid raw cannabis, however they will eat food products containing it which often includes chocolate which is toxic. Keep all your candy bars, brownies and fudge AND foods containing THC away from your dog! They often weight far less than people.
Chocolate itself is extremely toxic to dogs. It can kill a dog much quicker than pot.
THC toxicosis in pets can be deadly if they are not treated immediately! They can die from seizures or hypothermia or organ failure depending on their size and the amount they ate and the potency of the pot. Keep your dope away from them and don’t smoke around them.

Why don’t you try calling some of the local vets and ask them what dogs who have eaten pot act like and how sick they can get? Or call the pet poison line. If it makes 10 yr old kids sick, it can kill a 10# dog, yes siree.
Let me understand your logic. If something makes a human boy sick then it can kill a canine? These are two different species. Dogs can eat things that would kill a human. It’s inaccurate to compare cross species.
I know they aren’t the same species, goofball. I worked at several vets years ago and have seen pets sicker than sh*t from pot. They love being force fed that charcoal crap when they’re already deathly ill and sick to their stomachs. Don’t try telling me pot is harmless stuff to pets.. Thats bullcrap. And tell me what dogs can eat that would kill a human. Having a hard time thinking of anything. There are plenty of foods and people drugs that will kill pets. Do not feed onions, garlic, chives, grapes, raisins, chocolate, caffeine, macadamia nuts, avocado, xylitol, alcohol, yeast dough, milk, excessive salt, raw meat, raw eggs, bones. Be careful this time of year to keep lilies away from your cats!
If you think that’s bad, just think of what the soda pop and fast food is doing! Relax, don’t panic, if children or pets inadvertently consume cannabis the best thing to do is lie them down in a quite place and let it pass. They will not be harmed by THC physically like with most all other drugs.
