Fla. lawyer allegedly killed wife’s lover

TAMPA, Fla., March 12 (UPI) — A Florida lawyer who allegedly told a 911 dispatcher he found his wife having sex with a younger man has been charged with the man’s killing.

Ralph Lewis Wald, 70, of Brandon was being held without bail in Hillsborough County, the Tampa Bay Times reported.

Investigators say Wald called 911 Sunday night and told the dispatcher he shot Walter Lee Conley, 32, after finding him and his wife, Johnna Flores, 41, “fornicating” in the living room. Wald allegedly said he was asleep but woke up and went to get a drink of water.

Flores is Wald’s fifth wife. She was arrested in October, shortly before she married Wald, for allegedly firing a gun at Conley, who was then living in her home in Brandon.

Wald was admitted to the Florida bar in 1989. His ex-wife, Karen Singletary, told the Times he went to Stetson University law school after serving in the military for 20 years.

Singletary said she and Wald were married for five years and have a 20-year-old son. She said Wald got rid of the gun he owned at the time when the boy was born.

“Never any kind of violence or anything involved,” she said. “He’s a straightforward guy.”
