DURANGO, Colo., March 6 (UPI) — Bow, a Jack Russell-shepherd mix puppy shot with a crossbow bolt, goes up for adoption in Colorado this week while authorities keep looking for his assailant.
Bow was found with the crossbow arrow in his hind leg in Shiprock, N.M., and was taken to the animal shelter in Farmington, N.M., where the arrow was removed.
The 3-month-old stray then was transferred to the La Plata County Humane Society facility in Durango, Colo., to recuperate, The Denver Post reported.
“Once I heard about Bow I knew it’d be an easy adoption, and we also want to help out the Farmington shelter as much as we can since they’re always full,” Chris Nelson of the La Plata County Humane Society said.
Bow will become available for adoption beginning Thursday.
New Mexico authorities were still looking for whoever shot him, the newspaper said.
