Mom arrested for leaving child at 7-Eleven

SANFORD, Fla., Feb. 28 (UPI) — A Florida woman was arrested after she allegedly told her son he would have to sleep in the woods as punishment for a fight she had with her boyfriend.

Tiffany Buffkin, 32, her two sons and her boyfriend were driving home from an amusement park Sunday when Buffkin and her boyfriend began arguing, the Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel reported.

The boyfriend pulled into a 7-Eleven convenience store parking lot in Sanford and ordered Buffkin and her kids out of the car.

Buffkin blamed her 13-year-old son for the fight with her boyfriend and left him alone in the convenience store. The boy tried calling relatives and friends to ask for a ride home, a police report said.

Seminole County sheriff’s deputies found the boy’s 6-year-old brother sleeping behind the store about 11:30 p.m. and saw Buffkin walk from behind the building, which she was holding onto for balance, the report said.

Buffkin was arrested on charges of child neglect, disorderly intoxication and resisting arrest for allegedly kicking the window bars inside a patrol car, the report said.

The state Department of Children and Families took custody of the children.
