Report: Romney to speak at CPAC

WASHINGTON, Feb. 20 (UPI) — Mitt Romney, the 2012 Republican U.S. presidential nominee, will speak at a gathering of conservatives next month, National Review Online reported Wednesday.

Citing two sources familiar with the event, the conservative publication said Romney will appear at the Conservative Political Action Conference, to be held March 14-16 at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Md.

Romney has generally remained at his La Jolla, Calif., home since losing the November election to President Barack Obama but NRO friends of the former Massachusetts governor said he has become restless and wants to re-engage in the national political discourse.

The sources said Romney will likely address economic and fiscal issues, and a senior Romney aide said the speech will be “an opportunity for Governor Romney to thank all his supporters and friends.”
