Harasser claims victim injured him

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, India, Feb. 19 (UPI) — A woman celebrated in India after fighting off several men who were harassing her and a friend now faces charges filed by one of her attackers, police said.

The woman, identified as Amritha, was returning to Thiruvananthapuram, capital of Kerela state, with a friend last week when a group of men reportedly harassed the women, prompting Amritha to use martial arts to deal with them.

Police said the case arose after a man identified as Anup, one of the men allegedly roughed up by Amritha, filed a complaint against her in a magistrate court, Gulf News reported Tuesday.

Anup, a driver with a state government department, said he sustained serious injuries to his nose. He filed his claim after posting bail in the case filed against him by Amritha, Gulf News said.

He also filed charges against Amritha’s father, two friends, and her friend’s father. Gulf News said Amritha and her friend were biking back to Thiruvananthapuram with several family members following in two cars.
