WASHINGTON, Feb. 5 (UPI) — President Obama praised the Family Medical Leave Act on its 20th anniversary Tuesday, calling it a groundbreaking step for America’s workers and families.
In a White House press statement, he noted the law helped “level the playing field by extending protections to both women and men, so that more workers could meet their responsibilities” without jeopardizing their livelihoods.
Obama added he takes pride in his administration’s expansion of the law to military families and airline workers, and called for a re-commitment to making workplaces more fair and safe.
