AMES, Iowa -Iowa State junior forward Melvin Ejim was named to the Capital One Academic All-District 6 Men’s Basketball team, selected and announced today by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
A native of Toronto, Ontario, Ejim is one of 40 student-athletes who advanced to the Capitol One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected in February.
Ejim, a history major with a 3.74 cumulative GPA, is the Big 12 leader in rebounding (9.5), double-doubles (8) and double-digit rebounding efforts (13) this season. Ejim is averaging 10.4 points and shooting 49.4 percent from the field.
A three-year starter for the Cyclones, Ejim has 630 rebounds in his career to rank 19th all-time in school history. He was named All-Big 12 Honorable Mention in 2012 and is a member of the prestigious Phi Kappa Phi Academic Honor Society.
