IRVING, Texas- For the second time this season, Iowa State senior Will Clyburn was named Big 12 Rookie of the Week, announced today by the league office. Clyburn was picked by a select panel of media who cover Big 12 hoops.
A native of Detroit, Mich., Clyburn had an outstanding week, posting back-to-back double-doubles while averaging 18.0 points and 10.0 rebounds. Clyburn had 12 points and 10 boards at Texas Tech on Wednesday and followed that game with a 24-point, 10-rebound performance in Iowa State’s 73-67 win over No. 11 Kansas State.
Clyburn, who notched his third 20-point game of the season, was 8-of-16 from the field, 2-of-5 from 3-point range and led the Cyclones with two steals vs. the Wildcats. He scored 17 of his 24 points in the second half. Clyburn ranks sixth in the Big 12 with five double-doubles on the season.
Clyburn, who ranks seventh in the Big 12 in scoring (14.4 ppg), has scored in double figures in seven-straight games.
