UNI Knocks Off SIU, 58-45

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The University of Northern Iowa men’s basketball squad posted a 58-45 win over the Southern Illinois Salukis on Wednesday in a Missouri Valley Conference game in the McLeod Center.

UNI’s Marc Sonnen drained five 3-pointers and scored a game-high 15 points to lead the Panthers to a 58-45 win over the visiting Southern Illinois Salukis.

UNI improved to 11-9 overall and 4-4 in the Missouri Valley Conference. SIU fell to 8-11 overall and 1-7 in the MVC.

SIU was led in scoring by Dantiel Daniels with 11 points.

UNI used a 16-5 run in the first half to open up a 19-10 lead on the Salukis with 8:41 left in the half. SIU closed the margin to 28-22 at the half.

UNI used a 12-0 run to take a 38-22 with 16:23 remaining in the game.
