Man charged with putting dog in oven

SALEM, Ore., Jan. 23 (UPI) — An Oregon man who told officers he had anger issues has been arrested after deputies said he put his grandmother’s dog in the oven when the animal nipped him.

Kevin Dean Parrish, 20, was charged by Marion County deputies with aggravated abuse 1, a class C felony, The Statesman-Journal reported Tuesday.

Parrish told deputies the dog tried to bite him when he put his hand inside the crate of the 6-year-old Chihuahua-pinscher mix, named Kudo, to check on the animal.

Parrish, who reportedly told deputies he had anger issues, took the dog from the crate and put him in an over that had been heated to 350 degrees.

Parrish removed the dog when he heard someone enter the house, but not before Kudo suffered “multiple injuries and burns,” said Marion County Sheriff’s Deputy Don Thomson.

A veterinarian who treated the animal said he expected Kudo to make a full recovery.
