MASON CITY – Lashae Brooks scored a career-high 23 points and matched her career high with 14 rebounds to lead NIACC to a 68-63 victory over Iowa Lakes Saturday in junior college women’s basketball action.

Lateeka Thompson scored 15 points for the Lady Trojans (9-8 overall, 2-2 in the ICCAC).

NIACC trailed 36-30 at the half.

Brooks (Nett Lake, Minn.) was 8 of 12 from the field and 7 of 10 from the line. Brooks’ previous career best was 22 points against the Grand View junior varsity on Nov. 16.

Myangel Johnson led Iowa Lakes (6-13, 2-4) with 18 points.

The NIACC women return to action Wednesday at Southeastern.

IOWA LAKES – Shabreka Edwards 16, Ashleigh Dykes 2, Sunday Duop 10, Myangel Johnson 18, Leah Courtney 5, Carla Barrera 10, Noelle Kindred 2. Totals – 24-48 10-16 63.

NIACC – Jess Rogers 8, Lashae Brooks 23, Kadejah Young 9, Lateeka Thompson 15, Emily Bell 11, Morgan Walker 2. Totals – 24-57 16-29 68.

3-point goals – Iowa Lakes (5-9): Duop 2, Barrera 3. NIACC (4-13): Young, Bell 3.

Score at half – Iowa Lakes 36, NIACC 30.
