“Bushy Boy” and local woman lead cops on chase, arrested

MASON CITY – Local law enforcement has taken two wanted Mason City residents into custody following a high speed chase through Cerro Gordo County in the early morning hours.

Shortly before midnight on January 1st law enforcement attempted to make a traffic stop of a vehicle driven by Michael Jon Bush. Instead of stopping Bush again attempted elude law enforcement as he did in February 2011 and again in November 2012. The pursuit went through various areas of Cerro Gordo County before officers were able to bring Bush’s vehicle to a stop.

Bush had been wanted on an outstanding parole violation warrant issued in November in relation to his conviction for distribution of methamphetamine in Worth County. Bush was also wanted for failing to appear to court on December 14th on an interference with official acts charge related to the November 2012 chase in which his arm was broken in a foot chase with local law enforcement.

Following the arrest in November, 1st Call Bail Bonds posted his bond, but was unable to secure his appearance for the later court date. It is unclear why he was able to bond out of jail with an active no bond parole violation arrest warrant at that time.

In addition to the two outstanding warrants Bush was charged with numerous other crimes following his 3rd police chase in the past year including:

One serious misdemeanor count of Possession of Methamphetamine.

One serious misdemeanor count of Possession of Marijuana.

One serious misdemeanor count of Unlawful Possession of Prescription Drugs.

One serious misdemeanor count of Eluding Law Enforcement Vehicles.

One serious misdemeanor count of Driving While Suspended.

One simple misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

One simple misdemeanor count of interference with Official Acts.

One simple misdemeanor count of Failure to Obey Stop or Yield Sign.

One simple misdemeanor count of Failure to File SR-22 Insurance.

One simple misdemeanor count of Speeding.

One simple misdemeanor count Littering Upon Highway.

The passenger in the vehicle, identified as Sara Jean Ramon, was booked into jail after being in police custody for over two and half hours after Bush was detained in the Cerro Gordo County Jail.

Ramon had been wanted for violating pre-trial release on November 13th, 2012 in a 3rd Degree Burglary charge in which Ramon and four other individuals were caught by Mason City police still inside a house while burglarizing it. Three of the accomplices in the burglary have been convicted, and charges against co-defendant Michael Frazer were dropped after he was charged federally with distribution of methamphetamine.

Michael Bush’s Facebook page includes much of the criminal element of Mason City. The last post on his wall is from a Laura Best saying, “Happy running………I mean Happy New Years Bushy Boy!” Incidentally Laura Best’s brother Travis Best is currently wanted on a Cerro Gordo County warrant along with her boyfriend Justin Venard. Frank Mosher who currently appears on Mason City’s Most Wanted also appears on Bush’s Facebook wall to complain about “snitching” about a stolen motorcycle.

Bush remains in the Cerro Gordo County Jail with no bond. Ramon is being held on a $5,000 bond pending sentencing for the 3rd Degree Burglary Charge.
