DES MOINES – A Roland man was injured Saturday from a self-inflicted gunshot wound while pheasant hunting southwest of Eldora.
Tim Oelschlager, 53, was getting into his truck after pheasant hunting when the 12-gauge shotgun he was using fired hitting him in the foot shortly before 11 a.m. Saturday.
Oelschlager was taken by ambulance to Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center and then was airlifted to University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.
The incident is still under investigation by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
