CEDAR FALLS – The UNI men’s basketball team will open Missouri Valley Conference play at Wichita State on Sunday. Game time is at 5 PM.
The UNI Panthers are 7-5 overall and will visit Koch Arena, home of the Shockers. Wichita State is 11-1 overall on the season. UNI owns a 25-20 lead in the all-time series vs. Wichita State.
The Shockers’ only loss came at Tennessee on Dec. 13, 69-60. The Shockers were ranked as high as No. 23 in the Associated Press poll earlier this season.
Wichita State has won 14 straight home games heading into Sunday’s game vs. UNI. The Shockers’ win streak ranks as the 11th-best active home-court win streak in the nation.
Both Wichita State and UNI played Northern Colorado and Iowa this season. Wichita State defeated both Northern Colorado (80-54) and Iowa (75-63), while UNI downed Northern Colorado (76-59) but fell to Iowa (80-73).
