Iowa Receives Three Grants to Help Implement Obamacare

Senator Tom Harkin

WASHINGTON — Late last week, Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions and the Appropriations subcommittee for health care, announced three grants awarded to Iowa under the provisions of the Affordable Care Act.

“These grants will move Iowa’s health care system forward on three fronts: advancing research on effective care, expanding health insurance coverage for children of low-income families, and developing better systems to coordinate health care and improve patient outcomes,” Harkin said.

The first grant, awarded on a competitive basis to researchers at the University of Iowa, will fund a comparative clinical effectiveness study to examine ways to improve dementia care for rural and Hispanic populations. Nationwide, the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute awarded 25 grants totaling $40.7 million to fund research.

The second grant, $11.2 million from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, will allow Iowa to expand outreach to families with Medicaid- and Children’s Health Insurance Program-eligible children, to increase their enrollment in those programs.

The final grant, $400,000 awarded to In ConcertCare, Inc. in Urbandale, Iowa, will support the adoption of certified electronic health record technology and other technology-based strategies to improve care in its network of Federally Qualified Health Centers. The grant was awarded by the Health Resources and Services Administration with funds made available through the Affordable Care Act.

If more people would have done their research on what Obama care was going to cost us, Obama wouldn’t have been elected again. The major costs of it start kicking in this next year. You will soon feel the effects in your back pocket and you are not going to like it.

” In ConcertCare, Inc. in Urbandale, Iowa, will support the adoption of certified electronic health record technology and other technology-based strategies to improve care in its network of Federally Qualified Health Centers.”

What this means is, In ConcertCare does not have to purchase the same software that other providers had to. Makes me wonder if they are politically connected that they got a free ride.

Obamacare defined:

People that don’t pay taxes help me pay for my insurance, which I pay for myself with the money I get paid to do my job.

Ever notice how Harkin is always out front taking credit for giving the taxpayer back his money in a fashion that serves his political interests?

If the word obama is used – Reach back and make sure your wallet is still there !

Now we’re finding out why ObamaCare is costing us a fortune.

So exactly how is this going to help people in Iowa with their health care costs. Isn’t that what Obamacare is supposed to do. I’m just asking because I don’t understand how it’s going to work.

iowa already has insurance for low income children, it is called Hawkeye and has been available for a long time. So, the grants are a waste of money.
