The National Rifle Association’s Wayne LaPierre, in a Sunday interview on MSNBC’s Meet the Press, shot down any idea that his organization would support new gun controls, and blasted proposed legislation being introduced in Congress by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) and others that would ban assault weapons.
LaPierre told MSNBC’s David Gregory that arming schools is “the one thing that we can do immediately” to curb and prevent future violence.
LaPierre also said that reducing ammunition capacity won’t help stop the attacks or prevent future shootings.
Feinstein has said recently that “I’m going to introduce in the Senate and the same bill will be introduced in the House, a bill to ban assault weapons.
Congress is likely to look at the matter in the near future, and President Barack Obama has already reacted to a petition signed by thousands of Americans seeking new gun control laws and laid out how his administration will pursue methods to prevent future attacks.

This incident didn’t receive any coverage by national media. There was a home invasion in Sacramento by 3 perps. The homeowner was shot, but he was armed and shot all 3 perps, killing one. There were children having a sleepover in his home whose lives he probably saved. There have not been any more updates about the circumstances, just the identity of 2 of the perps.

I found this article very interesting. If you don’t read the article watch the video at the end of the article. Shows why anyone guarding schools needs a lot of training. I also will apologize up front to those of you who read the article. There is some name calling in parts of it.
@Happy Guy-I must agree with you on this issue. If they are going to have security in schools that are carrying weapons they must have training. To do anything else is just asking for the wrong person to get shot. Do not misunderstand, I have no problem with armed security in the schools. It is a different world today and I think with all the crazy people running around we would be stupid not to take all precautions with the children. Not just from guns, but from bombs, knives and any other weapons they will use.

David Gregory’s kids go to the same private school as the Obama kids, they have armed security at the school.
The Gregory children go to school with the children of President Barack Obama, according to the Washington Post. That school is the co-ed Quaker school Sidwell Friends.
According to a scan of the school’s online faculty-staff directory, Sidwell has a security department made up of at least 11 people. Many of those are police officers, who are presumably armed.
Moreover, with the Obama kids in attendance, there is a secret service presence at the institution, as well.

Did you know that Feinstein(POS) has a carry permit?? The idiot that wants to help ban guns has one for HER protection. @msgordy-were you aware that in England hwre they have very strict gun control violent crime has skyrocketed and now they want to ban knives and are installing vidio camera’s everywhere to try to stop it and in Australia where they over reacted and passed strict gun control the violent crime has also sky rocketed to the point honest people are now afraid to walk outside. The point is when you do away with guns the criminals take control and honest non criminals no longer are safe. Wake up before it is to late.

@happy guy-I didn’t say homicides, I said violent crimes. That inclused things like strong arm robberys, home invasions, muggings and thefts. That is why there is a push to ban knives and put up more and more security camera’s. The terrorist just love country’s like this. It is why England has been hit with terrorist attacks and we have not. Camera’s are only good after the fact but cost a lot of money to install and monitor. You need to read tyhe posts after yours. We are a society of my rights complainers and the notion that more guns on the streets will curb violence is insane. Now peoples slightest disagreements will turn into if he has a gun I better pull mine first. But the issue under discussion is the large capacity assault type weapons. When you see these attacks the nuts aren’t bringing hunting rifles or six shot hand guns but the ones that can spray as many bullets as possible to kill as many as they can. I hunt and own a shotgun and twenty two rifle and have learned how to shoot and most that hunt have done the same. So where is the place for assault weapons other than mass killings. Also the NRA is an organization that pumps millions into buying politicians to push their guns for all agenda.
Your arguement brings some merit. BUT what you don’t seem to understand is that your .22 rifle that you hunt with will be part of the ban as it is a semiautomatic. Get educated, then you won’t be so dangerous.
The number of civilian guns has gone up since 1990, Crime has dropped dramatically in that time.

A few years ago a bunch of people who thought bringing a casino to Cerro Gordo county was bad, it would cause all kinds of harm to society and our citizens so we rejected it and it went up to Worth county. Now we want to disarm every law bidding citizen to protect us, who really believes that will protect us and make everything OK. If we disarm everyone then the police, secret service, FBI ect should not need guns either, if no one has a gun why would they. Lets get real this is a fantasy some are living in. Lets enforce the current laws and do better back ground checks, and standardize the purchase and carry laws in all 50 states. Lets admit we have a mental health issue in this country that has been avoided for years and needs addressed. What do we care about the NRA for. I have the 2nd Amendment that says I can own guns. How dare you change or deprive United States law abiding citizens of their Constitutional right. A right that is there for a reason. Opposers need to look beyond their nose and understand why this is a part of our Constitution, but you won’t understand because you believe we live in utopia where nothing can harm us. Wrong. I cried when I heard about Sandy Hook. We gun owners are not incensitive to death. There is an answer and that is to arm select school staff. This is a plan to defend our children against guns, knives, bow and arrows, abduction,etc.
