LAS VEGAS – The UNI Panthers men’s basketball team is preparing to take on the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels Wednesday at he Thomas & Mack Center.
UNI (6-4 overall) will travel to Las Vegas, Nevada, to take on the No. 20 UNLV Runnin’ Rebels (8-1 overall) in the Mountain West/Missouri Valley Challenge. Tip is slated for 9 p.m. (CT).
UNI is 3-0 all-time in the MWC/MVC Challenge. UNI has scored MWC/MVC Challenge wins over Wyoming (72-54 in 2009), TCU (64-60 in 2010) and Colorado State (83-77 in 2011). The Panthers have won their last six games they have contested in Las Vegas.
UNI owns a 1-0 lead in the all-time series vs. UNLV. The Panthers defeated the Runnin’ Rebels in the first round of the 2010 NCAA Tournament in Oklahoma City, Okla., 69-66. Ali Farokhmanesh’s 3-pointer with 4.9 seconds provided the difference.
Senior guard Anthony James is closing in on becoming the Panthers’ next 1,000-point career scorer. James has tallied 952 points heading into Wednesday’s game at UNLV.
