Supervisors buy motor grader, accept response to union proposals

Cerro Gordo County Supervisors at their regular weekly meeting, held December 17th, 2012.

MASON CITY – The Cerro Gordo County Board of Supervisors met Tuesday morning for their regular weekly meeting.

The board agreed to the purchase of a motor grader from Ziegler CAT of Mason City at a cost of $166,000 after trade-in and the additional purchase of a new wing.

In other business, the board accepted a reply and proposal for the union representing sheriff’s department employees (Teamsters Local 238.)  The county rejected a proposed 6% wage increase proposed by the union, but will continue to discuss wages as the negotiations progress.

Regarding pay, the Supervisors and other elected officials will find out Tuesday how much the county compensation board is recommending for their pay increases, if any is granted.  The Cerro Gordo County Compensation Board meeting will take place Tuesday at 5 PM at the courthouse.

Supervisors Jay Urdahl, Bob Amosson and Phil Dougherty approved a 2.5% pay increase for themselves last March. Supervisor pay has gone from $31,500 in 2000 to $46,454 currently.   Over the last 20 years, Supervisors’ pay has risen dramatically.
