DES MOINES, Iowa – Iowa junior guard Roy Devyn Marble set a Wells Fargo Arena Division I men’s basketball record 30 points, to lead the Hawkeyes past the Panthers, 80-73, in the inaugural Hy-Vee Big Four Classic.

The Hawkeyes, currently riding a four-game winning streak, improve to 9-2 on the season, while the Panthers drop to 6-4 after having their three-game winning streak snapped.

UNI sophomore Deon Mitchell paced the Panthers with 23 points, eclipsing the 20-point mark for the second time this season. Panther center Seth Tuttle chipped in with 18 points and nine rebounds and senior Anthony James finished with 15 points.

Marble led the Hawkeyes with 13 first-half points on 3-of-5 shooting from downtown and freshman guard Mike Gesell knocked down 4-of-5 three pointers in the half to give the Hawkeyes a 40-32 halftime advantage. The 40 points scored by the Hawkeyes were the most the Panthers had allowed any opponent to score in a half all season, and marked only the second time all season the Panthers have trailed at halftime.

UNI senior Anthony James led the Panthers with 10 first half points, while sophomore guard Deon Mitchell chipped in with 9 first-half points.
