MASON CITY – A man who was involved in a fatal auto accident last spring has been arrested.
Jason Glenn Genzler, 33, was picked up by Mason City police in the 1500 block of North Madison Avenue on Monday at 4:40 PM on a warrant for vehicular homicide, involving operating while intoxicated, a class B felony.
According to Sheriff Kevin Pals, the Iowa State Patrol conducted the accident investigation after a one-vehicle accident that took place on May 12, 2012 at 3:15 AM near 20759 Spruce Avenue.
According to Iowa State Patrol, John Lybarger, age 33, was killed when the 1997 Dodge pickup he was riding in lost control. The Dodge went into the west ditch, rolled and came to rest on its top. Minda Jones, age 32 and Genzler were injured in the accident. Seatbelts were not worn by Lybarger nor Jones.
The Iowa State Patrol did not immediately respond after a request for information on the case.
Genzler is being held at this time in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on $25,000 cash bond with 10% needed to be released. A hearing is set for December 21st.
